Following on from my first post in the series of what I am learning from Stephen Covey’s book “7 Habits of highly effective people”. Habit 1 says you are the creator (using self-awareness, conscience and imagination), and Habit 2 is the first creation. “All things are created twice principle is in use here. There’s a mental/first creation and there’s a second physical creation”
I want to physically live out the wonderful first creation of my ideal life that is in my head, I want to proactively design the life I want, not physically live a life that is being created by others, that I am just fitting into because of other peoples agendas or circumstances.
Now that I am making an effort to be more self-aware, I can see the many different paths in my life- my life as a whole or a script as Stephen says, “Because we already live with many scripts that have been handed to us, the process of writing our own scripts is actually more a process of “re-scripting” or “paradigm shifting”- of changing some of the basic paradigms that we already have. As we recognize the ineffective scripts, the incorrect or incomplete paradigms within us, we can proactively begin to re-script our selves.”
I am deciding to be more response-able, and use my imagination and creativity to write new scripts.
Find out in my post tomorrow how Stephen Covey suggests we can actively start using the right side of our brain ( creative side), to start working towards the “re-scripting” of anything we feel we want to change in our lives. Remember from my first post about Habit 1– being proactive is about being aware of the things in life you can influence and change.
Remember, “Be grateful for all that you have, accept all that you don’t, and actively create all that you want”– Hal Alrod
