“Will power and desire, when properly combined make an irresistible pair.”-Napolean Hill

Following on from my post yesterday about goal setting and taking the time to push forward with any creative ideas that come your way, not being persistent is why I think so many people give up.

From the book “Think Rich, Grow Rich”, the following 8 points are what Napoleon Hill suggests will help you cultivate persistence into a state of mind.

  1. Definiteness of purpose-Knowing what you want is the first and most important step. A strong motive forces you to surmount many difficulties.
  2. Desire
  3. Self-reliance. Believing in your ability to carry out a plan , encourages you to follow the plan through with persistence.
  4. Definiteness of plans
  5. Accurate knowledge
  6. Co-operation with others
  7. Willpower– The habit of concentrating your thoughts upon the building of plans for the attainment of a definite purpose , leads to persistence.
  8. Habit- Persistence is the direct result of habit. The mind absorbs and becomes a part of the daily experiences upon which it feeds. Fear the worst of all enemies, can be effectively cured by forced repetition of acts of courage.

Have a great day, and if you get a chance to read “Think Rich, Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, I highly recommend it.
