So as this blog is about sharing , not only the inspiring and motivational stories of others but also what I am learning along the way, I have to share with you the book that has made the biggest difference in my life this year- The Miracle Morning, The 6 Habits That Will Change Your Life Before 8am!

Introduced to me by a friend , I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t heard about this when I started reading the two free chapters online – I was already feeling more motivated then I had in months!

The basic concept is that realistically we all want to have success in every aspect of our lives; Health, Money, Freedom, Success, Love and Happiness. We all know about these wonderful techniques that all the great guru’s and best selling authors write about, however how are we supposed to better ourselves in each part of our lives if we have no time to work on personal development? I end up reading all these different books which are amazing , however I bombard myself with the information and techniques and end up just moving quickly from one book to the next , not really having gained anything or stuck to any of the habits.

So how is this book any different?

This incredible book combines six very short but powerful practices- which you will recognize as we have all heard about them being done by the most successful people- into one morning routine that will improve every area of your life. This book puts into perspective just how easy it is to make time to focus on the emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual parts of your life without having to change anything other than the first hour of your day.

So as you can tell by the name of the book these practices are all done in the morning, before the rest of the house wakes up, before everyone starts demanding your precious time. You learn that how you spend the first hour of your day will set the pace and your mindset for the day ahead. To learn to wake up with excitement rather then resistance is the aim, because by resisting getting up you are in a way resisting life and what is to come.What if you can learn to create the amazing day you want, better yet the amazing life you want?!

So what do you have to do?

Well I highly recommend reading the book, but in summary Hal Alrod who wrote the book, has put together 6 S.A.V.E.R.S that we should do before officially starting our day.

Silence-Meditating, praying, and focusing on the breath. I could talk for hours on the benefits of this but for now please refer back to my previous posts on Mindfulness meditation for more information 🙂

Affirmations – I am a huge believer in positive affirmations! Taken from the book, Hal says “ You can use affirmations to start programming yourself to be confident and successful in everything you do, simply by repeatedly telling yourself who you want to be, what you want to accomplish, and how you are going to accomplish it. With enough repetition, your subconscious mind will begin to believe what you tell it, act upon it, and eventually manifest it in your reality.”  On the website, you can see examples of how to write your own affirmations.

Visualization- Hal mentions in his book that he had already made a vision board after watching The Secret, which I too watched as a teenager and have had my fair share of vision boards!  After reading this book, I was inspired again to create a new vision board and re-evaluate what I really wanted out of life. As the Law of Attraction goes “Ask, Believe, Receive”. By visualizing, you are designing the life you want and asking the universe to bring these wonderful things into your life!

Exercise– Now I love running, but there is no way I feel like going for a run at 6am in the morning, even if it is only for 15 minutes or so. I think that has to do with it being winter, but rather then dread this part of the morning and skip it all together, I get it out of the way first ,normally by doing some yoga or even some sit ups and lunges- just to get the blood pumping. Remember , “Motion creates emotion”- Tony Robbins.

Reading– Just reading even 10 minutes a day , a book on personal development that is going to set you up with a positive and motivated mindset for the day is perfect. This as opposed to getting annoyed by having wasted 10 minutes on Facebook reading about things that either annoy you or are not going to benefit you in anyway.

Scribing – Basically this is journaling. Writing down anything such as the food you ate that day, what you are grateful for, what you learnt that day, what you are want to improve on etc. It is about freeing your mind.

In The Miracle Morning Hal Alrod also talks about how to rise above the 95% of people who live mediocre lives and join the successful 5%. He says that the secret to overcoming mediocrity is to live a life of purpose. Maybe we do not know what our passion is and what we really want to do, but by taking the time to get clear on what we truly want out of life, we can make our purpose to create the amazing life we want in all these aspects – Health, Money, Freedom, Success, Love and Happiness.  Hal says,  “Not only are people missing out on the abundance of clarity, energy, motivation, and personal power that comes from waking up each day on purpose, but their resistance to this inevitable daily act is a defiant statement to the universe that they would rather lie in bed, unconscious, than to create and live the lie they desire.”

Please take just 10 minutes and read the two free chapters online – this book will change your life! I have joined The Miracle Morning Community on facebook and it is just the most inspiring, positive community that makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning because of all of the success stories! People share tips, motivational quotes, how they got the jobs and lives they wanted, they share ideas such as how they do their vision boards and affirmations , as well as positive little messages to get each other through the day!

As Hal rightly says in his book “Our outer world will always be a reflection of our inner world.” We have to take the time to work on the inside to get results on the outside and this book has the tools to do so- all found in one book and done in one hour!

    Gosh – I’m sorry I haven’t visited your site for a while – I’m going to be doing some major catching up as you have some posts which sound fab and I’m looking forward to reading them. For some reason, these don’t seem to have been coming up in my reader so sincere apologies for not keeping up sooner. This book sounds brilliant and just up my street – I’m definitely going to be having a read of the 2 free chapters and probably the rest of the book I suspect.. I love Anthony Robins and he encourages the ‘hour of power’ as the way to start the day which is along a very similar theme – the one I struggle with though is the exercise – I’ve decided I’m going to buy a cheap bike and get myself out there in the morning!

If I start at 9, I will get up at 6am, 1 hour of SAVERS which is what the book is about , taking that hour to work on personal development, then once I am in the right mind set, in a great and positive mood I spend the next hour getting all the things I need to do out of the way and the rest of my day is spent in a wonderful mood 🙂

If you don’t get a chance to read the whole book- the first two chapters are free online and that will give you a taste. I am just so passionate about it as it really helped me.
